Asian Development Bank (PMO) Project Brief Report:
Asian Development Bank (ADB) is financing and implementing a number of projects related to road sector through their Program Management Office (PMO). The Program Management Office (PMO) which previously functioned as Project Management Unit (PMU) is an ADB-funded office commenced its operations in 2004 under the framework of Ministry of Public Works and direct supervision of Asian Development Bank (ADB).
After the expansion of Project Management Unit (PMU) to Program Management Office (PMO), the office has been witnessing changes in the number of its staff and projects. Program Management Office has various departments, including Technical or Engineering Department, Financial and Administrative Department, IT Department and International Consultants Department. Program Management Office performs and implements most of the projects and programs of Ministry of Public Works (MPW).
Program Management Office has a number of completed, under construction and under procurement projects. The following is brief information concerning the completed, under construction and under procurement projects:
6.Mazari – Sharif – Pule Baraq is the first package within this project. The length of the road for this package is 75km. This contract was awarded on 1/11/2007 to SAMWHAN Corporation in was completed in 4/Aug/2011.
7. Pule Baraq – Dari Suf is the second package within this project. The length of the road for this package is 64.5km.
8.Bamyan – Yakawlang is the third package within this project. The length of the road for this package is 98.9km.
9.Hairatan &Mazar-e-Sharif Railway: The Technical and Economic feasibility studies of Hairatan&Mazar-e- Sharif Railway project is completed in Sep 2009 with financial aid of ADB and Railway direction is also consolidated from Pul-e-Dosti of Hairatan Port between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan Border to Naibabad and Mazar-e-Sharif airport in length of 75km....... for your more information click here
