Kunar-Nuristan road will be built according to it's design
The Ministry of Public Works is committed to construct projects in all parts of Afghanistan in accordance with the terms and conditions of the contract.
The Ministry of Public Works rejects the report recently published by Pajhwok Afghan News (PAN), which states that the Kunar-Nuristan road is being constructed with a small thickness.
In Nuristan - as the third national park of Afghanistan - the MoPW builds roads not only for transporting purposes, but the second main purpose is to create a good atmosphere and safe routes for tourists that increasingly visit this natural & cultural site in eastern Afghanistan.
So, according to this aspect, the MoPW decided to increase the width of the road from 6 meters to 7 meters, but the thickness of bitumen (asphalt) is in its own status, which is 9 cm thick according to the contract.
It is worth mentioning that both of the two sections of this road (Kunar-Nuristan) are now under construction, which is more than 21 km long. The first section of the road has reached 53% progress and is ready for the asphalting period, which is going to begin in the next few days.
Otherwise, the design of the remaining 62 km part of the road has already been completed that has been sent to the National Procurement Authority (NPA) for further process of the project cycle.
