MoPW fires all the weighbridges’ operators due to corruption and incompetence

After a series of complaints from the transport and freight unions, drivers, and the public against the weighbridges’ operators, the Ministry of Public Works appointed a commission of inquiry, which resulted in the dismissal of a number of officers.

According to Eng. Najibullah Yamin, Minister of Public Works, the findings of the inquiry commission will be handed over to the judicial authorities for further investigation too.

Otherwise, a number of weighbridges officers have been fired due to organizational reforms of the ministry, and the changes that have been made in their TORs.

MoPW says, the fired employees are not only accused of taking bribes but also doing damage to the roads, and were accused of letting the over-loaded vehicles pass through the asphalted roads.

The Ministry of Public Works is determined to appoint new officers through a transparent recruitment process and has a plan to digitalize the weighbridges that have been installed on the highways all over the country.
