JICA Assures to resume Cooperation With MoPW

Minister of Public Works virtually discussed a set of issues pertaining to Afghanistan roads’ infrastructure, with the country director of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for Afghanistan, in a VTC meeting.

The VTC was attended by Eng. Najibullah Yamin Minister of Public Works, Kensuke Tsuji, Director of the JICA for Afghanistan, Yuya Sato, Deputy Director of JICA, and Program Manager of the agency Eng. Wahidullah Sabawoon.

Having welcomed the JICA representatives, Minister Yamin discussed the importance of long-term relations between Japan and Afghanistan and the humanitarian assistance provided by his country.

He cited Dr. Tetsu Nakamura, a Japanese-Afghan national, as an important example of Japan's humanitarian cooperation. Minister Yamin described his efforts as a great chapter of strong relations between the two countries.

"Japan and Afghanistan will work together to further extend the cooperation based on the work style of Nakamura (RIP), forever." Minister Yamin said.

JICA Country Director for Afghanistan Kensuke Tsuji expressed his pleasure in the introductory meeting with the Minister of Public Works of Afghanistan.

He added: JICA would continue its assistance in the development and humanitarian sectors as it had done in the past. Mr. Tsuji called on the minister of MoPW for more such conferences to keep the cooperation continued.

It is worth mentioning, before the ending of VTC, the Minister of Public Works has given some spiritual gifts to the JICA/Afghanistan officials as thanksgiving.
